Last week, officers of the Meridian Police Department responded to 107 71st Place in reference to a shooting call. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 14 year-old female with a gunshot wound to the head.

As a result of the investigation, 15 year-old Johtavius Tell, the brother of the victim, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.

The victim died as a result of her injuries on March 31st, and the charge against Tell was upgraded manslaughter-culpable negligence.

Tell appeared before Municipal Court Judge Robbie Jones earlier this week, where he waived his preliminary hearing and bond was set at $25,000.00.
