Miss. Attorney General Appeals to Fifth Circuit in Same-Sex Marriage Case

JACKSON, Miss. – A notice has been filed with the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to appeal a federal judge’s ruling overturning Mississippi’s ban on same-sex marriage.

Judge Carlton Reeves made his decision to overturn the ban Tuesday. He also put a two week hold on his decision to give the state time to appeal before any marriages could take place.

Miss. Attorney General Jim Hood filed the appeal Wednesday.
