One County, Two Murders: Holmes County Investigating Shooting on the Side of the Highway

TCHULA, Miss.–Two people may have been murdered over the weekend in Holmes County, and one of the people killed was shot while parked on the side of the highway in Tchula, says Sheriff Willie March.

It happened about 8:30 Saturday night. Travis Anderson, 30, was shot while he sat in his car on Hwy. 49 near an abandoned building. March said Edward Young walked up to the car and shot Anderson in the chest at point blank range.

Young was arrested and charged with murder. The holmes County Sheriff’s Dept. is assisting Tchula Police, who just recently lost their chief in a car wreck.

Also Saturday morning, hunters found a body along Highway 12 in the woods, reported WJTV-TV. Bettina Crigler appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, but investigators are treating it as a murder.

The MBI was investigating, along with the sheriff’s dept.
