Miss. News Briefs: Baby Kidnapped, Cochran v. McDaniel Reaction

JACKSON, Miss.–If you thought a lot of people were talking about the Senate race between Thad Cochran and Chris McDaniel, then you should’ve learned something from the vote turnout. Here are some news briefs to get you through a rainy Tuesday:

CHOCHRAN v. McDANIEL

COCHRAN NO DEBATE
No debate still. Sen. Thad Cochran telling WAPT’s Bert Case repeatedly in a TV interview last night that he’s quote “Not running for a debate team”, and that his debates will be on the Senate floor.

BABY KIDNAPPED
Kidnapping of a baby in Jefferson County Monday morning. The baby is fine now and back with the mom, Kondwani Cadney, and four people are in jail after the mom called the sheriff and said a man, Terry Kidd, took the baby from her house and put her in a truck. Everybody in the truck arrested, too. Tammy Carr, Jessie Lawrence and Roneish McQuay, Just why they took the baby, they haven’t discussed that with the media.

UNDERAGE GIRL RAPED
Keeping your kids safe: The rape of an underage girl. That’s the charge against 25-year-old Rodney Wilson of Hattiesburg after the girl went to the hospital and told the doctors Wilson forced her to have sex while she was staying with family. Wilson is still in jail, but bail is at $75,000.

DEADLY FORCE IN MOSS POINT
Deadly force used by a Moss Point police officer Sunday night. Now the MBI is looking into. Chief Keith Davis told media Monday that the officer shot the man at the intersection of I-10 and Hwy. 63 after the man became a threat to the officer. They’re not saying much more than that right now.
