Miss. News Briefs: Pipeline Could Be Going Away, Burning Burglar Locked Up

JACKSON, Miss.–If you like stories about people getting their cummupence, then here are some news briefs as you near the end of your week.

BURNING BURGLAR
Taking some stuff from a house where she’d been staying and then setting the place on fire. Police in Petal say Samantha Joyce did that then took off to Alabama March 3, but WDAM reporting that the accused burning burglar was picked up by police in Mobile and is coming back to face the music in Mississippi.

GUN MISSING
Gun missing, that’s what the Dept. of Corrections says is happening at the prison it operates in Rankin County. Whether somebody stole it or misplaced it, they don’t know where it is and that’s a problem. Investigating today.

GO KART DEATH
Go-Karts don’t belong in the same place as a truck and Phildelphia teen Daranger Beckham is dead after a truck hit his go kart Tuesday. No charges against the guy driving the truck.

GAS
You’ll pay $3.40 on average for gas in Mississippi. Cheapest Horn Lake $3.21.
