Champions will be named and playoff matchups begin this week in high school football across the state of Mississippi.

The top team in 6A, Pearl is 11-0 and will take on Brandon (7-4) in the 67th annual “Rankin County Super Bowl” with the region 3 of 6A Championship on the line.

Brookhaven (9-1) travels to West Jones (8-2) where the winner of this matchup will be crowned as the 5A Region 3 champion and will play in front of their home crowd in the playoffs when they start next week.

Friday is the beginning of the playoffs for 4A, 3A and 2A

in 4A, Shannon (7-4) at Louisville (9-2): Shannon’s high powered offense will face off against the stout defense of Louisville high.

In 3A, South Pontotoc (8-3) is playing at Water Valley (7-4): South Pontotoc started the season 7-0 but after losing several players to injuries they’ve lost 3 of their last 4. Water Valley’s offense averages 36 points per game, so South Pontotoc will have their hands full.

In 2A, Lake (8-2) at Calhoun City (8-2): The defending 2a champs the Calhoun City Wildcats host Lake as they look to make another run at a state title.

Upset minded Euproa (7-3) travels to take on a 10-1 Philadelphia squad that comes in after knocking off an unbeaten Scott Central last week
