Mississippi Weekend: Marathons, markets, and music

JACKSON, MISS– If it’s going to take more than cold weather to keep you indoors this weekend, there’s a lot of entertainment happening around the state this weekend. 

If you’re willing to brave the wintry weather for that’s runner’s high, the 10th Annual Mississippi Blues Marathon is happening Saturday in Downtown Jackson. There’s the best of the blues before, during, and after the race with stages set throughout. There’s something for everyone.. marathon, half marathon, quarter marathon, relay or kids 1 mile fun run.

If you’re looking for new furniture or just want to appreciate what Mississippi can put out, there’s the Tupelo Furniture Market lasting through the weekend in Tupelo. It’s the fastest growing furniture market facility in the industry, with over 500 brands there to get that home remodel.

If you’re just wanting something warm to eat, cold to drink, and great music to listen to, then head to Hattiesburg Saturday for the Piney Wood Players at the Thirsty Hippo. Carey Hudson and the gang are starting the year right.. showtime, 9’o’clock.
