Mississippi Weekend: train ride, Christmas run, Beauvoir Christmas

In North Mississippi, families will feel the holiday magic in the air the moment they arrive at the Grenada Railroad Saturday.

The music begins as they depart the station and everyone will be clapping along to the tunes and Elves will be dancing in the aisles leading sing-alongs with favorite Christmas songs.

When passengers hear the “Chocolate Christmas” song begin to play they’ll know it’s time for cookies and hot chocolate to be served.

When they arrive at Christmas Town so gather together to share the views from the window of the magical lighted town. Wave to Santa and his elves before they climb aboard to greet each boy and girl and present them with a special gift.

In Central Mississippi, get ready for the annual Blues Christmas Run. Attendees will have the option to run either two or four miles with an out and back course. The run will take place tomorrow at 8 a.m. in Ridgeland.

In South Mississippi, Christmas Time at Beauvoir is back. The Garden and historic Oak Trees with be lit up. Friday and Saturday are family nights and everyone will get to take selfies with Santa, take part in story time and watch short Christmas movies in the Library Pavilion. Christmas Carolers will also be on hand for the celebration and the kids will get to make tons of arts and crafts.
