On September 20, 2017 Judge John Emfinger declared a mistrial in the capital murder and conspiracy to commit robbery case of Joshua Archie.

Archie is accused of the murder of 68-year-old Robert Adams, the manager of Party City in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Archie is accused of attempting to rob the business resulting in the death of Adams.

Undra Ward, who worked at the business, was also charged as an accomplice. She plead guilty to conspiracy to commit a robbery and second degree murder.

District Attorney Michael Guest said that the judge returned the mistrial verdict after the jury was hung, 10-2. Archie is still being held in the Madison County Jail and Guest said they do plan to retry the case.

A new date should be decided by 2018.
