Mother, 2 children shot in Jackson drive-by

A mother and two children were shot in what police believe to be a drive-by shooting in Jackson. 

Jackson Police are investigating after the three victims arrived at a hospital with gunshot wounds. Police say that the shooting happened just before 11:00 a.m. on Bailey Avenue.

Names of the victims have not been released at this time, but they include a 23-year-old woman and two 2-year olds, one boy and one girl. The little girl is the woman’s child, but her relation to the little boy in unknown at this time.

The girl was shot in the abdomen and was rushed into surgery. She was last listed in critical condition.

The mother was shot in the leg, and the boy was shot in the hand. Both have been listed in stable condition. 

The shooting occurred at their home on Bailey Avenue as they were walking outside. While speaking to police, the mother could not remember where the shots came from. 

Officers actively searched the area in an attempt to identify a potential suspect or vehicle that may have been involved.  A motive and suspect(s) remain unknown, however, no other residents or homes in the area appeared to have been harmed during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
