MS GOP chair optimistic ahead of Gov.’s State of State Address

Tonight Governor Phil Bryant will give the state of the state address and with the entire state of Mississippi set to watch the speech, along with the Senate and the House of Representatives the Governor is expected to discuss and outline his agenda for the 2018 legislative session.

“It’s an opportunity for him to speak directly to the people,” said Lucien Smith Chairman of the Mississippi GOP.

The House will gavel in the joint session at 4:45 p.m. with Gov. Bryant expected to start the Address around 5:00 p.m.

“The Governor has a powerful pulpit in that office and is able to really provide leadership and the state of the state is an opportunity for him to say to the rest of the state legislative leadership, here are the issues that I think are important to keep moving Mississippi forward,” Smith said.
