MSU Student DUI Death Court Hearing Put Off For Now

STARKVILLE, Miss.–It’s going to be Feb. 5 before Sawyer Steede gets his day in court for a hearing on his aggravated DUI case in the September death of his buddy and roommate Kaleb Barker. The hearing was put off this week after a hearing scheduled for Monday didn’t happen.

Both Steede and Barker are from Lucedale and both were MSU students when they were riding in a McDonald’s parking lot in Starkville. Steede was driving when the truck crashed, threw both of them out and ran over Barker.

Police said Steede, 19, was driving drunk.

He’s free right now on $50,000 bond.
