Murder Suspect to Stay Behind Bars

JACKSON, Miss. – Bond has been denied for the man accused of kidnapping his wife and killing her uncle in Utica earlier this month.

Michael Wright made his initial appearance in Hinds County Court Monday and told a judge he is innocent.

Police tell a different story.  They say he shot and killed Jerry Brent, on October 9. Wright then kidnapped his wife, Sharice Latham, who eventually managed to escape.  Wright was found nearly three weeks later staying at a homeless shelter in Pike County. He was arrested after being sent out to cut grass.

Wright was already out on bond awaiting trial for the death of another woman in Panola County.
