NAACP Chief To Bid Farewell in Mississippi

 

JACKSON, Miss. — National NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous will give his farewell address in Mississippi Saturday night at the 68th Annual State NAACP Convention.

“He thinks a lot of Mississippi,” said State NAACP President Derrick Johnson.  “We appreciate the work and the sacrifice he did for the NAACP and the sacrifice of his family. So this is a great time for us.”
Jealous will speak at the Mississippi NAACP’s Freedom Fund Awards Banquet at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Jackson Convention Center.

In 2008 Jealous because the youngest person to lead the group.  He is stepping down at the end of the year.
