Natchez Trace Parkway Celebration

TUPELO, Miss.–The Natchez Trace Parkway will be celebrating 75 years as a national park on Saturday in Tupelo.

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Visitor’s Center just north of Tupelo with lots of childrens’ activities and live music.

“The activities of the day will include 80 classic vehicles from the years 1938-2013 representing the 75 years of the parkway,” said Dale Wilkerson spokesman for the event.

He pointed out that the Natchez Trace was in its prime back in the early 1800’s and there were even parts of it still being used during the Civil War.

There will be people playing the part of live history on both the Union and Confederates sides of the war too.

One of the draws to the event is that food and drinks will be priced like it is 1938, and that means that everything is ten cents to buy.
