National Fire Prevention Week

JACKSON, Miss.- It is National Fire Prevention Week in Mississippi and Fire Marshals are reminding you to check your fire alarm.

This years campaign is “Don’t Wait – Check the Date,” encouraging everyone to make sure their fire alarm is working and up to date.

Smoke alarms should be tested monthly and the batteries should be changed at least once a year.

Smoke alarms can expire, which can cause them to be ineffective. If a smoke alarm is more than 10 years old it should be replaced immediately. The expiration date is located on the back.
