Emilia Resources, manufacturer of over-the-counter cosmetic and personal-care products, is expanding for the second time in just more than a year in De Kalb. The project is a $1 million corporate investment and will create 27 jobs.

“Leaders at all levels of government throughout the state partner to create a strong business environment that fosters community and economic development,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “Emilia Resources’ latest expansion in De Kalb is a shining example of that partnership as the company creates dozens of new jobs for East Mississippi’s workforce.”

The expansion increases the Emilia Resources’ manufacturing capacity and involves an investment in new equipment and a 21,000-square-foot addition to the company’s existing facility.

“Emilia Resources’ goal is to continue to grow and invest in our De Kalb facility and to create new job opportunities for this area,” said a spokesperson for Emilia Resources. “We have a great relationship with the state of Mississippi and Kemper County and appreciate the support we have received from them both. Emilia Resources has a bright future in Kemper County, Mississippi.”

The Mississippi Development Authority is assisting with building construction. The Appalachian Regional Commission and Kemper County are also assisting with the project.

“Emilia Resources’ is a valued member of the Mississippi business community,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “The company’s continued commitment to the people of Kemper County is evidenced by its decision to invest additional capital for the expansion, adding new career opportunities in its East Mississippi operations.”

Emilia Resources also announced an expansion in August 2017. The project marked a $150,000 investment and created 30 jobs. The company’s latest expansion will bring employment at the facility to approximately 140 workers. The expansion is slated to be complete in the fall of 2019.
