A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new 58,000 square feet Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Gulfport will be held tomorrow.

The new clinic will provide patient-centered health care for the approximately 6,000 active duty service members, families of active duty service members, retirees and their families enrolled to the clinic in a modern and safe facility conducive to care.

The new clinic was specifically designed to support the Medical Home Port Team concept used throughout Navy Medicine.  The Medical Home Port process is a multi-disciplinary approach that delivers patient-centered care and improves access to care for all patients.

NBHC Gulfport is certified as a primary care medical home by The Joint Commission.  The Joint Commission accredits and certifies nearly 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.  A certification from The Joint Commission is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards

The Fleet Center Medical Home (FCMH) will also share space within the new clinic with NBHC Gulfport.  The FCMH provides care to active duty service members assigned to the Seabee Battalions and have their own staff of health care professionals.

The Families Over Coming Under Stress (FOCUS) will also share space within the new clinic with NBHC Gulfport.  The program provides resilience training to military children, families, and couples. It teaches practical skills to help families and couples overcome common challenges related to a military life. It helps build on current strengths and teach new strategies to enhance communication and problem solving, goal setting and creating a shared family story.

The new clinic hours will remain 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and appointments can be made by calling (228) 871-4033.

Services at the new clinic will include primary care using the Medical Home Port Team process, audiology, dental, immunizations, laboratory, preventive medicine, substance abuse rehab, mental health, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology and FOCUS for the families.  The clinic will also provide occupational health care for approximately 6,000 civilian employees assigned to Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport and the local area.

NBHC Gulfport is one of 10 branch clinics assigned to Naval Hospital Pensacola.
