Nightclubs Scene of First Murder of 2015 and Other Shootings

COLUMBUS, Miss.–Some people go to nightclubs for a good time. Others go looking for trouble. For some people, trouble finds them. Whatever the case for these two men, Timothy Barker, 32, of Columbus is dead, and that may be the first murder in Mississippi in 2015.

It happened right after the countdown at Club Heidi. Two guys got into it and one pulled a gun, then pulled the trigger. Barker was shot at least once and died at Baptist Memorial, Golden Triangle.

WCBI reported that a 30-year-old man was taken away by police and was expected to be charged today.

In Shuqualak, in Noxubee County, the Track Side Club was the scene of a fight between two groups of people about 3 in the morning on New Year’s Day.

A man and a woman were both hit by bullets after somebody pulled a gun and started shooting. The man is okay. The woman is still in the hospital.

Police are still looking for the shooter(s).
