BRANDON, Miss. – An off duty police officer accidentally shot his roommate in the head at their Brandon Home Wednesday night, according to investigators.
The name of the officer was not made public. Rankin County detectives said he wasn’t working with their department. But they refused to say who employs him.
Investigators said the man told them he had bought a new gun and was showing it to his roommate when it accidentally went off. The victim was taken to a Jackson hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
Detectives said charges are not expected to be filed.
