Ole Miss Student Sentenced for James Meredith Statue Incident

OXFORD, Miss. – He says he’s sorry and that he wants to move forward in a positive light.

Graeme Phillip Harris (21) will serve six months in prison for placing a noose along with an old Georgia flag on the statue of James Meredith, located on the University of Mississippi campus.

Harris says that the incident has deeply affected his life and that moving forward he wants to help the minority community.

Along with prison time, Harris will have to perform 100 hours of community service and 12 months supervised probation.
