One man is dead and another was injured as a result of Monday night shooting in Canton.

Officers arrived at the home on South Walnut Street on Monday night, and found the body of 53-year-old Darrel Champion after he had been shot and killed. Investigators say that Champion was visiting the homeowner, Vernon Groff, who was taken to a local hospital for after suffering from a gunshot wound. According to Sergeant Ware with the Canton PD, Groff’s condition has been upgraded from critical to stable.
