UPDATE: Police officer shot in Clarksdale, suspects arrested

CLARKSDALE, Miss. – A Clarkdsdale police officer is in critical condition after being shot Saturday night. 

Corporal Derrick Couch was investigating a robbery, at a convenience store, when he was shot in the head. He was immediately taken to Regional Medical Center.

Sunday afternoon at around 2:50 p.m., Clarksdale Mayor announced that one of the two suspects had turned themselves in and by 4:30 p.m., a second suspect had been arrested…

Local police along with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation believe these two men are responsible for the robbery and shooting.

Corporal Couch has been with the Clarksdale Police Department since 2011.
