Political Blogger’s Trial Averted, Bizarre Case Over?

CANTON, Miss. – The political blogger, accused of breaking into the nursing home room of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran’s wife last year and videotaping her, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy.

Clayton Kelly of Pearl, entered his plea in a Madison County court Monday afternoon, just as potential jurors were finishing their final paperwork.

Kelly, who will be sentenced Monday, June 15, faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Prosecutors had said Kelly, a Chris McDaniel supporter, wanted to use the images of Mrs. Rose Cochran to prove rumors  that her husband, U.S. Senator Thad Cochran, was having an affair while she was  bedridden with dementia.  Rose Cochran died in December.  Senator Cochran married his longtime office aide Kay Webber a few weeks ago.
