Prison Employees Could Receive Extra Pay for Overtime Instead of Comp. Time

JACKSON, Miss.- Prison employees could get paid for their overtime. Mississippi legislators proposed House Bill 435, which says guards and other employees would be paid extra when they work overtime.

Currently, they are supposed to get compensatory time off later when they work extra hours.

The bill passed the House Corrections Committee on Wednesday. It will now move to the House Appropriations Committee for further debate.
