Railroad depot development paused for the go ahead

NATCHEZ, Miss.- Natchez residents are waiting on city aldermen to decide the direction of the historic railroad depot development in downtown.

The development began around this time last year with renovations to the inside of the railroad depot being done by New Orleans Hotel Consultants. Approximately $80,000 has been spent so far in renovations, according to company president Warren Reuther.

Local media reported that at the last aldermen meeting Reuther requested permission to continue the renovations, moving outside, and the aldermen are expected to make that decision by the end of this week.

Last year the first vote before alderman was approved unanimously for the non-binding letter of intent for these renovations.

Reuther’s company manages the Natchez Convention Center and owns the Natchez Grand Hotel near the depot.
