Robin Williams was a Mississippi Governor’s Great-Great Grandson

JACKSON, Miss. — You may remember Robin Williams from the movies like Jumanji, Good Will Hunting, or Miss Doubt fire. Mississippi remembers Robin’s Williams’ great-great grandfather as Governor. Anselm J. McLaurin served as the state’s leader from 1896 to 1900 according to the Mississippi Department of Archives.

The name “McLaurin” was also carried on in the family with Williams bearing it has his middle name.

Tuesday, investigators revealed that Williams hanged himself and died from of asphyxiation.
