May 25th is National Missing Children’s Day and starting today the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is asking you to show your support by participating in the Rock One Sock campaign. This means you wear one sock to honor missing children and give hope to their families.
National Missing Children’s Day was first designated by Ronald Reagan in 1983 and the date was chosen in honor of Etan Patz, a 6 year-old boy who disappeared on May 25 in 1979 while on his way to school in New York City.
The NCMEC is taking donations on their website, RockOneSock.org, to help them do more for missing children. They also ask that you take a picture or a video of your sock using #RockOneSock and tag them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram at @MissingKids.
