The new Ross Barnett Reservoir trash law for boats went into effect yesterday, January 1st, 2019.

The law requires all boaters and fisherman to have a designated trash container on the boat. Anyone who does not follow this law can be fined up to $1,000.

The Reservoir Police Department replied to a comment on Facebook and said: “We do not dictate which container you must use. It must however be labeled as ‘trash’. It cannot be a small ultra thin grocery store bag.”
