Runoff Election to fill John Moore’s seat in Rankin County

A special runoff election is taking place Tuesday, March 13th to take over the seat formerly held by former Representative John Moore. Candidates Bob Morrow and Fred Shanks are participating in a run-off election to succeed former House Education Chair John Moore, who resigned back in December following multiple sexual harassment complaints.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. this morning and will close at 7 p.m. tonight in House District 60 in Rankin County.

The winner will finish out the final two years of Moore’s term in the Mississippi House.

Though Mississippi special election candidates forgo party labels, both Morrow and Shanks have said that they would caucus with Republicans. Morrow is currently a Rankin County supervisor and Shanks is a former Brandon alderman.

If anyone has trouble finding their polling place, the Secretary of State is reminding people that they can use the polling locator on their website if they are looking for their precinct.
