No Safety Garb Leads to Outdoorsman’s Death

FRANKLIN COUTNY, Miss. – A Louisiana hunter has been shot dead in Mississippi after he was apparently mistaken for a deer.

Rickey Kennedy, 63, was on private hunting land in Franklin County early Friday when the accident happened.  David Blackwell, Chief Investigator with the Franklin County Sheriff’s department said Kennedy had removed  and left his orange hunting clothing in a deer stand. At this stage of the investigation, Blackwell said no charges have been, nor are expected to be filed against the shooter, whose name was not released.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fishers and Parks is assisting with the investigation.
