The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department is warning people of a phone scam going around in which someone is impersonating an officer and demanding money.
Sheriff Victor Mason said the most recent incident involved a person claiming to be Major Bryant and calling from a 601-873-3363. The person demanded that the victim go to the Dollar General and put money on a green dot card or they would be arrested.
The Sheriff’s office wants the public to know that they will never solicit you for money for any reason.
