Back on August 6th, a woman’s body was found inside of a burned car on a service road in the Bienville National Forest in Scott County, and authorities have now been able to identify the body.

Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee has confirmed that the body was that of 32-year-old Latasha Patrick Johnson, who had been reported missing by her family earlier that week.

As officials await the results of an autopsy, Lee stated that the investigation will continue with the belief that this is a homicide case. Lee said that the circumstances around Johnson’s death show that there’s “no doubt” that the car was lit on fire intentionally, and that it would’ve been a “controlled burn” and not a sudden explosion.

Currently, no suspect information has been made available to the public, but the investigation is ongoing.
