OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.–Funeral service are Wednesday for former state Rep. Ray Vecchio, who died Friday in Ocean Springs. Vecchio served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 1982 to 1993.
Vecchio, born in Pascagoula, earned degrees from Boston University and Golden Gate University. He served in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department from 1958 to 1962.
Following his stint in the legislature, Vecchio worked for Congressman Gene Taylor and went into business on the coast.
He was also a retired major in the Air Force, having flown a B52 in Korea.
Vecchio was 82.
