Severe Weather ahead with Possibility of Tornadoes

JACKSON, Miss.- Sunshine gleaming on your face, finally wearing shorts and flip flops outside, but don’t get too comfortable with the great weather just yet. There’s a chance of severe storms to sweep through Mississippi later in the week. Be on the lookout especially Thursday night going into Friday morning.

You may start to see some clouds roll in Wednesday afternoon and evening and possibility of storms hitting as early as Wednesday, but the National Weather Service’s main concern is for Thursday evening. A bit of a cold front is going to come through along with the storm, but nothing like the harsh winter we’ve experienced in prior weeks.

National Weather Service Meteorologist David Cox says, “There will be a potential for some large hail, damaging winds, and also possibility of tornadoes.”

The Delta needs to be especially on the lookout and areas south of the Delta could also have a chance of experiencing tornadoes and severe weather.
