Solar Power in Mississippi: Entergy Flips the Switch

DESOTO COUNTY, MISS– Entergy Mississippi flipped the switch today on production of solar energy from its pilot solar plot in DeSoto County.

This is the first step in bringing solar energy to your home from your utility company. Two more plots are already in the works; one in Brookhaven, the other in Jackson, with hopes that they’ll be completed by the end of the year.

“Spreading the sites across the state will help us understand locational differences, capacity factor, different weather patterns and irradiance at different locations,” says Aaron Hill, Entergy Mississippi manager of transmission planning, “This project will also help answer questions about the economics of solar power and how efficient or feasible it will be at various locations in Mississippi.”
