Southern Miss has announced future matchups with non-conference opponents, including a road game at Miami and a four-game series with Troy.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Miami to face the Hurricanes for the first time in program history on Sept. 10, 2022. USM is also scheduled to travel to Tulane and host Liberty during the 2022 season.

USM and Troy’s 4-game series will be stretched out from 2021-2029. The Golden Eagles will host the Trojans in the first and final year of the agreement, and they’ll travel to Troy in 2024 and 2028. Outside of this agreement, the Golden Eagles are also set to visit Troy in week 3 of the 2019 season.

New AD Jeremy McClain was hired at USM after serving as Troy’s AD since 2015.

In the USM’s announcement, McClain said that these matchups reflect their scheduling philosophy.

“We are excited to announce these future games for our football program,” McClain said. “Our scheduling philosophy moving forward will continue to include regionally-based opponents that provide great opportunities for fans to enjoy Golden Eagle football.”

USM opens the 2019 season against Alcorn State at home on August 31st.
