Southern Miss Athlete Wins Player of the Week Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss.- For the first time in his career, rising Southern Miss Tennis star Wen Po Tseng wins Conference USA Athlete of the week. The Taiwan native is in his Sophomore campaign as a Golden Eagle.

According to SouthernMiss.Com, Tseng played a pivotal role in leading the Golden Eagles post a pair of 5-2 wins during the week against Lamar and UT Pan American. While playing at No. 2 singles against Lamar, Tseng won his first set in a tie-breaker before pulling out a 7-6 (8), 7-5 win against Michael Feucht. Tseng followed with a straight-set victory, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 against Hector Ramirez (UTPA) to finish with a 2-0 record in singles. He teamed with Chao-Yu Huang in No. 1 doubles and finished with a 1-1 record. The duo lost 6-2 against regionally ranked No. 5 Michael Feucht/Nikita Lis (Lamar), then bounced back to defeat Koby Jansen and Ramirez of UTPA 7-5 after being down 4-1.
