Southern Miss Baseball Player Improves After Head Injury

HATTIESBURG, Miss– Senior Michael Gilbert shows some improvement after suffering a head injury during a cross-fit style exercise Thursday.

Senior USM Baseballer Michael Gilbert is showing steady improvement after suffering a head injury Thursday, says The Sun-Herald.

Gilbert was participating in a three-person drill that involved carrying a log over the shoulder, single-file. Gilbert was in the front when he lost his footing, causing the log to fall on his head.

Gilbert was taken to Forrest General but was then later transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for further treatment. His condition was critical, but stable.

Gilbert was moved from ICU to a regular room on Sunday.
