The Southern Miss Golden Eagles baseball team will face the University of Texas San Antonio Roadrunners for the second time Friday at 6:30 at MGM Park in Biloxi to continue Conference USA tournament play.

Southern Miss is still in after a 5-2 win over Louisiana Tech on Thursday–a victory much needed after falling to UTSA 9-2 for the tournament opener.

Freshman Matthew Guidry’s three-run home run in the second inning Thursday gave Southern Miss a lead it never would lose and as the top-seeded Golden Eagles shook off Wednesday’s first-round loss with a 5-2 victory over fifth-seeded Louisiana Tech in an elimination game.

Wednesday, The Roadrunners (29-26) savaged Southern Miss’ All-Conference pitcher Colt Smith (6-1) and reliever Trent Driver over the first four innings, when UTSA scored eight of its nine runs.

Southern Miss must win against UTSA to stay in tournament play.
