Speaker of the House Philip Gunn Talks State Flag, Education, Same Sex Marriage at Neshoba County Fair

NESHOBA COUNTY– Speaker of the House Philip Gunn used his time for speaking at the Neshoba County Fair to cover top issues in Mississippi.

While nearly every political candidate spoke on education during Thursday’s portion of the speeches, Speaker of the House Philip Gunn was the only one who had protestors at his speech. As Speaker Gunn approached the microphone, state flags started waving in the crowd and folks carrying signs reading “Keep the Flag, Change the Speaker” walked down the aisle.

“I see the Philip Gunn fan club around,” said Gunn joking about the protestors, “thank y’all for being here.”

Gunn went on to say that the flag wasn’t something that could be fixed immediately, so he was going to focus on more pressing issues.
