Starkville Still Mum on Chief, Lindley Retires After Being on Leave

STARKVILLE, Miss.–Police Chief David Lindley had been with the force for 38 years in Starkville, but he decided to retire this week after being put on administrative leave last week by the Board of Alderman. They are still not saying why.

Lindley told TV station WCBI that his wife Georgia, who is the MSU police chief, had a small accident in a parking lot, but left the scene because she did not know she had hit someone. Once she knew what happened, there was an accident report filed.

It was still unclear if that had anything to do with the punishment.

Lindley had been chief since 2001.
