Storms cause power outages across Mississippi

Update: Monday, April 16

Tornadoes and flooding across the state resulted in power outages for over 10,000 Mississippians over the weekend, and crews have been working to get the lights back on ever since. The number of outages has now been reduced to just over 100, according to Entergy’ Outage Map.

While the majority of outages have been restored, over 1,000 Mississippians remain without power.

The number of reported outages has increased, and over 11,000 Mississippians are without power as a result of the storms across the state. Updated numbers can be seen below.

A statement from Entergy says that the company is aiming to have all outages restored by 4 p.m.

“Due to the thunderstorms along with the high winds that have and continue to move through the area we are experiencing numerous outages. Entergy personnel are working to restore service as quickly as safely possible. At this time, we estimate that all service will be restored by 4 PM, April 14, 2018. The estimated time of restoration could change as all damage assessments are completed or if other storm activity results in additional outages.

Strong winds and heavy storms have caused thousands of power outages across the state of Mississippi. Entergy’s outage map is reporting over 9,000 Mississippians without power as a result of the storms. The number of outages has been broken down by county and can be seen below.

A bulk of the outages are being seen in the Jackson area, where tornado warnings have been issued as recently as this morning.
