Super Bowl Champ Butler Honored at the White House, Name Dropped by President

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Helping win the Super Bowl has its perks. One for Vicksburg native Malcolm Butler was being name dropped by President Obama on the south lawn of the White House Thursday.

“I think it’s fair to say that Malcolm has earned a lifetime of free drinks at every bah (bar, said in a mock Bostonian accent), in Boston,” said Obama to laughs.

Butler was honored earlier this year with a parade and key to the city ceremony in Vicksburg, and with a new truck, after his interception in the final seconds of the Super Bowl that ensured the Patriots 28-24 win over the SeaHawks.
