CHICAGO, Ill.–You were told by oil experts over the past several weeks that you would see gas in Mississippi possibly drop another 15 cents. Today the state average is a $2.23, about the same as it was two weeks ago.
The reason is a shutdown at the BP oil refinery right outside Chicago, reports FOX News correspondent Jeff Flock.
“The biggest gasoline producer in the midwest has shut its biggest crude distillation unit for unscheduled repairs,” said Flock.
He said gas prices in Chicago have gone up a dollar and prices in Michigan have gone up by 60 cents.
In Mississippi, gas prices haven’t really gone up, but they have not dropped, as expected. Crude oil was still under $40 per barrel, some of the lowest prices in 10 years.
