JACKSON, Miss. — Over 8,700 citations were dished out by the Highway Patrol over the 4th of July holiday enforcement period. That ran from the third through the seventh. Those tickets included 259 DUIs and 334 for not wearing a seatbelt. This year the state saw 173 traffic accidents, three of those were fatal.
