Thrift store offers discount wedding dresses and second chances

JACKSON, MISS– This reporter is a thrift shop fiend. The bigger the deal, the more addictive it becomes. And if you’re in the market for a wedding dress, a thrift shop could be the next place you need to shop.

Why spend a grand or more on a wedding dress, when you can get a couture bridal ensemble for less than two hundred bucks? If you’re on the hunt, you can get a dress on the cheap for yourself, while making an impact on women all across Mississippi.

The Real McCoy Thrift store in Jackson has tons of new and used wedding dresses for sale, and the money helps fund the McCoy House Sober Living Center.

It’s a recovery facility for women in Central Mississippi that offers women with addictions, a place to heal.

“The McCoy House is a transitional living facility for women,” said Denise Marsters, with the McCoy House for Sober Living. “who have gone through a chemical dependency program.. and many who go through inpatient care go into a sober home for up to 90 days.”

It provides a safe and secure place to start the life-long journey of recovery. Emphasis is placed on unity within the home, working a 12-step program, and being responsible and self-supporting.

The Real McCoy is having a huge sale this weekend, and if you’re not one-foot-down-the-aisle, the Real McCoy has a fun, eclectic selection of clothes, shoes, furniture, and household items.

Shopping here could mean fun, finding some bargains, and helping Mississippi women rebuild their lives and families.

If you’re interested in your next thrifty purchase helping women recover, you can shop at The Real McCoy Fridays & Saturdays 10-4pm and Sundays 1-4pm in Jackson.
