The Mississippi Transportation Commission (MTC) recently awarded contracts for maintenance projects in North Mississippi.

“Safety is always MDOT’s top priority,” said Commissioner Mike Tagert, Northern Transportation District. “These projects will significantly increase the safety and mobility throughout North Mississippi.”

The awarded contracts were:

  • A $3.5 million contract was awarded to WG Construction Company, Inc., of Ripley, to mill and overlay approximately 10 miles of State Route 15 from the Webster County Line to south of State Route 8 in Chickasaw County.
  • A $16 million contract was award to Lehman-Roberts Company, of Memphis, for a project to mill and overlay approximately eight miles of Interstate 55 in Grenada County from near State Route 8 to the Yalobusha County Line.

MDOT will release additional information regarding timelines and impacts to traffic prior to the start of construction, and will alert the traveling public prior to any changes in traffic.

Highway work zones present new traffic patterns and configurations that may be unfamiliar to some motorists. For information about how to navigate highway work zones safely, visit GoMDOT.com/drivesmartms.
