Tropical Storm Danny Headed Toward the Gulf, Could Become a Hurricane

GULFPORT, Miss.–Tropical Storm Danny is headed towards the Caribbean and then the Gulf of Mexico, even though it’ll take several days for the storm to travel there. News Mississippi is keeping an eye on the storm, and watches any storm that could affect Mississippi.

Maximum sustained winds were at about 50 mph. The storm was reportedly strengthening steadily, but a 5 a.m. update from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the storm had remained at about the same strength for several hours.

It could take a week for it to reach the Caribbean. It could become a hurricane in much less time, giving it plenty of time to gain strength.
