Update: 14-year-old shooting victim dies of injuries

The Jackson Police Department has confirmed that the 14-year-old, Alexandria Love, who was shot over the weekend has died.

Previously, JPD identifed and arrested 15-year-old Sheroderick Elmore who is in custody. He originally faced Aggravated Assault charges, but they will be upgraded, that is currently pending.

The shooting occurred on William McKinley Circle.

Jackson Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday that left a female victim in critical condition.

Officers responded to a residence the 200 block of William McKinley Cir. located in the Presidential Hills Subdivision. When they arrived at the scene, they found a 14-year-old female suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and as of Monday morning, she is still in critical condition.

Several individuals were detained for questioning following the incident, but no arrests have been made. A 15-year old boy is currently a person of interest in the case, and the JPD is working to locate him.

A motive for the shooting is still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
